Get Well Soon!

Talk about a rough month! A couple of days after getting back to Hanoi, Thien Nhan caught the flu from his big brother, Little Minh, who'd been bedridden for some days already.


"Thien Nhan had a high fever for three nights," reports the kids' mom, Mai Anh. "He was very well behaved even though he was sick. He didn't make a fuss and he took all his medicine."

Unfortunately, due to his high fever, he wound up in the local hospital, where he was given fluids via an IV (photo).

Get well soon, Thien Nhan!

The family is still waiting for the results of Thien Nhan's hormone tests, done during his recent trip to Texas.

A Rough Week

On the last day of the Year of the Rat Thien Nhan came down with a high fever and had to be rushed to the emergency ward. He developed a rash all over his body and was too sick to eat or drink, requiring him to be hospitalized for four nights. "He looked like a Tet peach tree," joked mom Mai Anh, referring to the angry red rash that covered poor Nhan's entire face and body.

His dad, Nghinh, fell ill too, and poor Mai Anh spent her New Year's holiday rushing back and forth between her home and the hospital. Luckily Thien Nhan's fever is now down, and while he remains tired and weak he is at home again.

Visiting a Sick Friend

Last weekend, Mai Anh took Thien Nhan (in yellow shirt) to the 1080 Hospital in Hanoi to visit Linh, aged 15 months, who is undergoing treament for leukemia. The tragedy doesn't end there. Linh's dad is in jail for life, convicted of murdering his wife's lover. Following her boyfriend's death, Linh's mom threw herself into a river and drowned. Little Linh is now being cared for by the family's former maid. "The maid is very poor but such a good lady," says Mai Anh. "I took Thien Nhan there to see if we can find some way to help them." Any leads to organizations that could aid Linh are appreciated.
